After the lockdown period brought our performances to a halt, we tragically lost our lead guitarist Mr Rob Hingley. He now has his own permanent memorial on this site.
Now we are announcing our first show in four years, taking place on Friday 17 November 2023: a show dedicated to our wonderful friend. The show will be held at The Hope & Anchor, Islington, and tickets are by donation in aid of mental health charity Mind. The event is now SOLD OUT and entrance will be by pre-booked tickets ONLY. We will be joined on stage by two very special guest guitarists, ours and Rob's wonderful friends, who will help us to replay and recreate his guitar playing for this one very special night only. Adam Smith of Miss Havisham's Digital Clock; and Howard Sarna of Rangoon and The Mighty Heartache. Further, our wonderful friend and Ruby Cornish will be reprising her role as Many Few drummer for half the show (Steve Green will also be present and correct of course!) and Ruby might also surprise us with a turn on another instrument... And to our delight we announce that our support artist on the night will be non other than William D. Drake, backed by Rob Bastable on bass. William D. Drake has released a superb catalogue of material under his own name, of which Rob was a massive fan. We can think of nobody more appropriate to grace the stage with us for this show, and are very moved by his joining our heartfelt tribute. He also played keys in Rob's favourite band Cardiacs, as well as the Sea Nymphs, Wood, North Sea Radio Orchestra.... the list really does go on quite a bit, but the point is Rob attended a great number of his shows.
