(The song "Human Flesh Being" reveals a less than innocent sexual awakening.)

4. Biographies
Short Version: (Twitter-friendly at 260 characters):
The Many Few’s angular new-wave art-pop blends bucolic Englishness and nervous dancefloor spasms to keep you shuffling on the edge of your seat. Male & female vocals, guitars, bass, drums + hamonica. Eccentric, melodic, bubbly, dark, and a little bit worrying!
Standard Version:
The Many Few are a guitar-based 5-piece with inventively paired male and female singers. Our new-wavy art-pop songs are angular, catchy and charming.
We’ve made our music in different guises over the years, building a network of cool friends and an intrigued following. Our latest incarnation crackles with energy and sets our unique material alight.
Seizing the moment, we announce our first full release: “Sharkenfreude” is a blistering album of 11 tracks over 40 minutes setting forth our musical manifesto.
It’s daringly good fun. So get your copy quick before they make it illegal!
At our performances we like to showcase our original abstract artwork. This unique and fascinating set of images provides the perfect backdrop and immerses our audience in our surreal and wistfully misshapen world.
Long, Historical Version:
The Many Few was originally the brainchild of John Norman, writing songs in his childhood bedroom, recording on a Fostex four-track and dreaming of blissful obscurity.
Unfortunately for him, during a spell at University learning the craft of librarianship, he accidentally recruited Misty Wyatt on vocals, plus Robin Hemmings on harmonica (and later bass); and so a mysterious Brighton bedsit incarnation of the band was formed in various guises and names through the ‘90s.
After a hiatus in which the band all relocated to London, a period of open-mic experience and low-key gigging beckoned this intrepid trio until they were joined by Rob Hingley on guitar and a succession of talented drummers managed to impose purposeful structure and flair on their dreamatic yet wistful stylings.
Now imbued with persuasively catchy melodies, not to mention ridiculously accomplished vocal and instrumental skills, the band set about charming a number of London venues with their delightful performances and have amassed a loyal following, picking up new fans wherever they play.
A studio album “Sharkenfreude” has delighted long-term fans and should garner new appreciation following a packed-out launch party at Denmark Street’s Alley Cat bar in late 2017.
In 2018 the drummer Steve Green brought his 20 years of experience, plus his energy and dramatic showmanship to the band and the five-piece are sailing excitedly toward uncharted waters!
Influences & Sound Similars:
Most obvious influences are Robyn Hitchcock, The Kinks, Elvis Costello, early Talking Heads, Kate Bush, XTC & Bowie.
People also tend to mention acts including The B52s and Yeah Yeah Noh. Maybe we got to the same town via a different route?
